From our President
Despite its difficulties, 2020 was a great year at Amikas! In July and August, we advocated for an ordinance with the City of El Cajon and achieved something GREAT. The ordinance allows our Meridian Village to become real. It provides an administrative zoning permit to use our emergency sleeping cabins as temporary dwellings. We have a ton of committed volunteers on our team who want to keep women and children off the street and honor our female veterans by ending homelessness in this population.
There is a great deal of interest and support for our mission right now, and the need is greater than ever. It is time to get creative and make emergency sleeping cabins a reality throughout San Diego County.
We could always use your help though. What’s your superpower? If you care about women and children the way we do, and you want to help provide every woman and child in San Diego County a safe place to sleep at night, become a member, give and volunteer today!
